Mylar

You will find many professional or serious indoor gardeners that use reflective Mylar sheets for reflecting light around indoor garden areas. Indoor plants can use all the extra light you can produce to develop into a healthy robust plant. You can use any tape to apply to a flat surface where any light from the grow light can be reflected. When starting a garden its a good idea to place sheets of reflective film on the floor of the garden area. This will reflect any light that would be wasted on the floor to be reflected back to the plants. All polyester films are purchased clear and would look similar to cellophane or polypropylene when you purchase it.

  1. DuPont Mylar is a high quality film that is clear when purchased from DuPont Teijin Films.
  2. Polyester must be metalized (to apply the mirror finish) to use in your hydroponic garden setup for light reflecting.  
  3. The quality of the end result of a finished metallized  or mirrored roll totally depends on the company that applies the mirror finish.

We  have only clear Mylar in stock below for sale, the clear film is for wrapping around plants to stop them from growing into each other and blocking all the light from penetrating the lower portion of the plants. This works very well on just about any type of plant that tends to get wide during growth or flowering cycles. If you need to reflect light you will need a reflective film like metalized polyester with a reflective finish for reflecting light for hydroponics or indoor gardening.  We have reflective rolls of polyester for hydroponics here. What some growers like to do is to wrap a thin piece of clear film around plants that tend to grow into other plants by invading their light space. They start the wrap around 5ins from the top of the branches that need to be pulled back toward the center of the plant. Cut the strip around 1in thick and as long as you will need to to wrap around and tie a knot. This will allow you to just slide the thin strip up as the branches grow to prevent them from blocking light from other plants. This can be done in just a few minute and you can maintain the plant during the grow and flower cycles of your garden. You really do not want to have your plants to close when planting them but sometimes you get that one that just wants to tower over the rest of the garden. That is when using this method will will increase you plants yield which is why you are growing in the first place. So get the most from your garden by trying this simple method and keep your plants producing as much as possible.
